Cut the Background Out of a Photo Automatically

Upload a picture and an AI model finds the subject — a person, a pet, a product, an object on a desk — and separates it from whatever is behind it. It will cut a person out of a photo, remove everything behind them, or cut out an object from a picture, all without you tracing anything. There is nothing to trace or paint over by hand. Because it recognises the subject rather than matching a colour, it works on real photographs, not just plain backdrops.

Then Change the Background, or Leave It Out

Once the background is gone you have three choices:

  • Leave it transparent – download a PNG that sits cleanly on any colour or design.
  • Fill it with a colour – pick one from the colour swatch for a plain studio-style backdrop.
  • Put in a different photo – upload a second image and your subject is placed on it. Drag the subject to position it and scale it to fit.

When you use a replacement photo you can also choose whose shape the finished picture takes: keep your original image's frame, or use the frame of the background photo instead.

No. The AI model runs on our own servers, so your picture is never passed to a third-party provider or API. It is deleted automatically within an hour, and it is never used to train anything — which matters more than usual here, since people upload photographs of themselves and their families to this sort of tool.

Because a JPG has no way to record transparency — saving a cut-out as a JPG would fill the empty area back in with solid colour and undo the work. PNG keeps it genuinely clear. If you have replaced the background with a photo or a colour there is nothing transparent left, so you can safely convert it to JPG afterwards to save space.
